Part-Time/On-Call Wetland Biologist

We are seeking an individual with outstanding qualifications who is able to provide analytic support to clients regarding wetland biology issues.

Job responsibilities may include

  1. Performing wetland and related analyses for work related to environmental impact assessments, biological assessments, mitigation planning, permitting, and other documentation.
  2. Conducting wetland delineations for ongoing project work.
  3. Other responsibilities pursuant to your areas of expertise, as requested.

Required Qualifications

The successful applicant must:

  1. A minimum of a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts or equivalent degree in hydrology, soil science, botany, ecology, resource management, or related field. A graduate degree in one of these fields is usually an indication of more advanced expertise.
  2. A minimum of 2 years of experience as a wetland professional; including delineating wetlands using the state or federal manuals, preparing wetland reports, conducting function assessments, and developing and implementing mitigation plans.
  3. Completion of wetland-specific training programs, such as the University of Washington Wetland Science and Management Certificate Program or individual workshops on wetland delineation, function assessment, mitigation design, hydrophytic plant or hydric soil identification, etc.
  4. A strong attention to detail.
  5. An ability to work in teams.
  6. Enjoy interdisciplinary approaches to environmental issues.
  7. Strong writing and analytical skills.
  8. Strong interpersonal skills.
