Brownfields Redevelopment Project

City of Aberdeen, Washington

As part of a brownfields redevelopment project, EI completed a remedial investigation and feasibility study for a former landfill and truck repair facility with a history of hazardous waste contamination situated along the Chehalis River and Elliot Slough in Washington. Completed the engineering design report, developed cost estimates, conducted a thorough review and analysis of previous site investigation, examined state laws and regulations. Considered possible redevelopment strategies under US Department of Housing and Urban Development guidelines. Participated in joint strategy sessions with the Washington State Department of Ecology, assisted the City of Aberdeen in obtaining grant funding for site investigation and remediation work. Conducted a preliminary wetland and habitat study. Developed and led a community outreach program to garner public input, support and participation in the redevelopment project. Worked with state and local agencies as well as the community to design a viable redevelopment project that will enhance the local economy.
