Natural Resource Damage Assessment Training

Various Federal, State, Tribal, Private Clients

EI has developed and presented natural resource damage assessment (NRDA) training courses to Federal, State, Tribal and private clients, including the Naval Base Kitsap (Bangor), the State of Maine, the Washington State Department of Ecology, and the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation. EI has also presented training courses at the Northwest Environmental Training Center (NWETC). The training courses, which are thoughtfully customized to fit the client's specific needs, cover such aspects of NRDA including Federal NRDA history, basic NRDA concepts, Federal statutory authorities, injury determination and quantification, RI/FS-NRDA coordination, techniques in assessing damage, restoration, Federal regulations (CERCLA and OPA), and cooperative damage assessments. With myriad project experience providing expert NRDA advice to clients on matters ranging from oil spills to hazardous waste releases as a result of industry operations, and as authors of the Natural Resource Damage Assessment Deskbook: A Legal and Technical Analysis, published by the Environmental Law Institute, EI staff bring a depth and breadth of both real-world and technical NRDA expertise to the training.
